SURKHANDA DEVI TEMPLE

At a distance of about 8 km from Dhanolti, and a 2 km trek from the village Kaddu Khal is the Surkanda Temple, that makes up for a trekker’s paradise. While the climb is tough, it’s worth the view and serenity. Following the popular mythology of Sati jumping in to the sacrificial fire to go against her Father Daksha’s act of not inviting Lord Shiva to a ceremony, this temple is one of the most popular ‘Shaktipeeth’ of India. A Shaktipeeth, going by the literal translation, is a holy site with the female goddess residing for her followers.

ECO PARK

The Eco Park, divided between Amber (sky) and Dhara (earth) parks, about 200 mts from each other. A botanical park housing a large variety of conifers and especially the native Deodars, the park is also to a few endangered aerial species. Sunset and sunrise are the best time to visit the Eco Park, with a beautiful multi hued sky view flanked by the deodars on all sides. Avoid all types of natives who pose as Ayurvedic experts, as thy might just want to dupe you of your money and time. Various adventure sports with added safety measures like rock climbing, flying fox, sky walking and more. Children, adults and older family members will enjoy the Park alike.

THE POTATO FARM

The Potato Farm is for the ones with a rustic heart, looking to experience nature in its most raw form. The Potato Farm, natively called the ‘Aloo Khet’ is spread across large strips of land, owned by the government and some private farmers. You can go for long walk into the farm, which is located at a distance of about a kilometer from the main market, and has a spectacular view of the Doon valley.

THE TEHRI DAM

The Tehri Dam of Uttarakhand is the highest dam in India, 2nd highest in Asia and 8th highest in World. It is on the Bhagirathi River near Tehri Garhwal in Uttarakhand, India. Tehri dam is being built by THDC India Ltd. The dam is expected to generate about 2400 megawatts of electricity. The total cost associated with the Tehri Dam project is around Rs 8000/- crores.

DEHRADUN

Dehradun is the capital of the Indian state of Uttarakhand, near the Himalayan foothills. At its core is the 6-sided Ghanta Ghar clock tower. To the southwest is Paltan Bazaar, a busy shopping area. Just east is the Sikh temple Gurdwara Nanaksar, topped with ornate white and golden domes. In Clement Town to the city’s southwest, Mindrolling Monastery is a Tibetan Buddhist center with shrine rooms in its Great Stupa.

MUSSOORIE

Mussoorie is a hill station and a municipal board in the Dehradun District of the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is about 35 km from the state capital of Dehradun and 290 km north of the national capital of New Delhi.

CHAMBA

The beautiful hill station of Chamba . Established by Raja Sahil Verma in 920 AD, the hamlet has retained its medieval charm.
